According to All About Birds (http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Cedar_Waxwing_dtl.html), the one on the left is male, having a darker and larger chin patch.

note that the female’s mask is rather abbreviated.
The male has a more extensive mask. Note that he also seems to be brighter and more colorful than the female. The “cedar” coloring is more extensive on the male than on the female. He also has a darker chin patch.
Good luck in the field though.

It looks like the male is on the left, and the female on the right because of the dark chin patch. I agree with Lynne and Linda, they do like they are wearing very cool sunglasses.

I love the Cedars
I have them visit my crab apples every

I think the one on the left, with the bigger bib, more extensive chest colouring and prominant head-crest, and straighter fuller dark brow.

I think the one on the left is the male. His bib is larger and his coloring is more bold compared to the bird on the right.
