After the past two birdQUIZ’s that were hard. . . . I figured it was time to do an easier birdQUIZ for everyone. I captured this bird in flight here in New York State and thought it was a little tricky with the way the wing is blocking some of the bird! Be sure to use your field guide and make sure to look for all available field marks.

You got me… now if this is a common merganser I’m just recently familiarizing myself with this bird… so I’m staying (stunningly I know) quiet on this guy. (I just cannot figure out how that wing is working there… it’s a bit like looking at an escher lithograph)
